Gwyneth Paltrow Goes Country with New Radio Single "Country Strong"
Oscar winner Gwyneth Paltrow is going country. She's starring in the film Country Strong as fallen country singer Kelly Canter this December, and RCA Records has released Gwyneth's performance of the title song, "Country Strong," as a single to country radio.
Vince Gill and Patty Griffin sing backup on the tune, which will be included on the Country Strong soundtrack, due out October 26th. The movie Country Strong will hit theaters on December 22nd starring Gwyneth alongside Tim McGraw, Leighton Meester and Garrett Hedlund.
As for tapping into her country voice, Gwyneth says, "I really loved doing this, and I discovered a whole side that I didn't really know that I had." Tim McGraw liked the Appalachian influence he heard in Gwyneth's voice, too. She says with a laugh, "I guess he liked it enough to sing with me, so he wasn't that I embarrassed, I guess."
This isn't Gwyneth's first time on the radio. She scored a number one on Billboard's Adult Contemporary chart in 2000 with Huey Lewis on a remake of Smokey Robinson's "Cruisin'." That performance was taken from the film Duets.
